Steering is a safety-relevant system on vehicles. In construction machinery and heavy trucks, the manual force at the steering wheel is not sufficient to move the axles.
For these applications, the steering is supported by hydraulic and electric components so that safe maneuvering of the vehicle is possible with reasonable manual forces.
We develop special steering techniques that allow safe operation of the vehicle even in the event of a steering assistance failure. The use of redundant steering systems offers the advantage of ensuring safe operation. This advantage comes into play especially in autonomously operated vehicles.
